Merino’s natural qualities mean less washing is needed compared to synthetic fibers. For a quick refresh, air it out for an hour. When washing is necessary, here’s how to care for your merino:
Machine Wash (Max 40°C):
- Wash sweaters or wool accessories separately, inside out, and in a washing bag.
- Use mild wool detergent and, if desired, fabric softener for extra softness.
- Choose the wool program on your washing machine.
- Dry flat, reshaping as needed, and avoid stretching or hanging the sleeves.
Hand Wash:
- Soak in lukewarm water (Max 40°C) with mild wool detergent in a bathtub or large container.
- Gently move the garment, avoiding rubbing.
- Rinse thoroughly, then gently squeeze out excess water without twisting.
- Reshape and roll in a towel for 30 minutes, then lay flat to dry.
Finishing:
- Steam iron on the wool setting (Max 148°C), ensuring steam is activated. Iron lightly and let cool before folding.
